Gather your tools
Blood sugar testing is usually done with a special needle called a lancet and an electronic glucose monitor. Start by gathering your supplies:
- Lancet
- Lancing device cap for finger sticks
- Lancing device cap for alternate-site sticks
- Glucose monitor
- Lancing device
- Dial to set depth of skin puncture (available on some lancing devices)
- Vial containing test strips
- Test strip
