Back pain: Can rest make it worse?
When your back hurts, you may be tempted to give up and sack out on the couch. Don't! In fact, resting may be the worst thing you can do. When it comes to low back pain, light activity promotes healing. As much as possible, follow your normal routine. Just be careful to avoid heavy lifting, prolonged sitting, repetitive bending or anything that aggravates the pain.
