There are twenty two (22) Stroke Centers in the state of Georgia. Stroke Centers are hospitals that have been reviewed by the Joint Commission and have been approved as stroke ready facilities or stroke ready hospitals. The Joint Commission in determining stroke readiness evaluates a facility for its capacity and staffing to be able within a three hour window of time to evaluate stroke patients who may be candidates for receiving a thrombolitic drug or surgical intervention.
